Title: Derailed
Series: Off Track Records
Author: Kacey Shea
Genre: Contemporary Romance
NEW from USA TODAY Bestselling author Kacey Shea...
Sean Willis knows the difference between right and wrong. Sure, the bass player of Three Ugly Guys has made his share of mistakes, but when push comes to shove, Sean always chooses the high road. Now, even when things are unraveling with the band, he’s the voice of reason.
Until Jess.
She’s the only thing he’s ever wanted and couldn’t have. Not only is she his new roommate, but her boyfriend is the newest addition to 3UG. She’s more than off limits, she’s a temptress with her unaltered beauty and gentle spirit.
Jessica Moore has never been the center of anyone’s world. In fact, she’s familiar with being forgotten. Not too tall, not too pretty, not too smart; she’s just Jess. No stranger to scraping by for survival, she finds shelter in Coy Wright, a musician with dreams bigger than life. But when Coy skyrockets to stardom, Jess is thrust into a world in which she doesn’t belong.
That is, until she discovers an unexpected friendship. Sean treats Jess as someone special, important, and worthy of love. The feelings and desires he stirs within are dangerous, because despite Sean’s kindness and affection, she’s forever loyal to Coy.
What happens when doing the wrong thing feels right?
Jess and Sean’s friendship is put to the test, along with alliances in the band. Is love enough to derail their best laid plans, or will selfishness throw everyone’s success off track?
DERAILED can be read as a standalone or begin with Trent's story in DETOUR.
“Cold?” He slides out of his coat jacket, stands at my side, and holds it out to me. He’s far enough away that he has to stretch his arms to their full length, almost as if he wants me to turn and look at him. His hand is covered in tattoos, all the way to where his wrist disappears into the cuff of his black dress shirt.
I fight the urge to meet his gaze, instead directing my eyes back out to the night. I shake my head no. He waits a moment and I wonder whether he’s lingering in case I change my mind. I’ve already made a fool out of myself—and out of Coy—and my boyfriend won’t be pleased if I walk back indoors wearing another man’s coat. Sean places the jacket back on and I sneak a glance at his profile. He pats around his pockets and I guess it’s for a lighter. Surprising, since I’ve never seen him smoke, but he did tell Coy that’s what he came out here for. He pulls out a baggy and when I realize what it is, I almost laugh. Scooping a handful of trail mix, he pauses before putting it in his mouth, and turns his chin to catch my stare. His lips pull into a warm smile. “Sorry, I’m always hungry.” He tosses the food in his mouth and crunches before holding the bag out to me. “Oh, no, thank you.” I can’t believe he’s packing trail mix. Not only is this a swanky event with tons of free food being offered on polished silver platters, but he’s a famous bad boy rocker . . . smuggling snacks. If People ever got hold of this they’d have it in a full page spread. Probably up the sales of trail mix across the nation. At that I do giggle. He laughs and cocks his head. “What? I get hungry. I always come prepared.” He winks and I don’t know why, but my mind automatically assumes he’s making a sexual reference. I remember his bare chest this morning all glistened with sweat. Is he really always prepared when he comes? I’m horrible, and my skin heats with further embarrassment for thinking about Sean like that. He crunches on a few more handfuls of food, shifting so his back leans against the rail until the food is gone. He rolls his neck. “God, I hate these things.” He shifts uncomfortably. “Charity galas?” Curiosity gets the best of me. This man, the entire band, has ignited an unnatural interest. I sneak another glance as his mouth pulls up in a smirk. “No, smartass. Dress clothes.” He lets loose a gravelly chuckle. Twisting to study his face better, I lean my hip on the railing and face him. His smile, a little wicked and even more genuine, pulls my own lips into a grin. “Me, too,” I admit. “What? Not possible.” He shakes his head. “Why? Only guys are allowed to hate dressing up? Sexist much?” I delight in the smile that stretches his lips wide. “I’m more of a jeans and T-shirt girl.” “My kinda girl.” A little thrill bubbles up with his words and while I should avert my gaze, I can’t help but delight in watching his face as he takes me in, an unhurried perusal that begins at my shoes and ends when he reaches my stare. “You look gorgeous tonight. You know that?” At his words my smile falters and I remember just how I look, along with Coy’s stinging words. I turn back to the landscape. “You do know that, right?” I don’t know how to answer Sean without my insecurity creeping into my voice so I ignore his question. He scuffs his heel on the railing and pushes off, taking a few steps forward and letting the empty plastic bag drop to the ground. Thank goodness. He’s going to leave and I can forget his kindness. “Jessica.” My name falls from his lips with such urgency, I have to turn and meet his gaze. His eyes, the irises brown and almost molten, cause my pulse to quicken, but he offers a sincere and kind smile. “You look beautiful tonight. You’re as pretty in jeans and a T-shirt, too, but you need to know these socialites don’t hold a candle to your beauty.” He holds my gaze and I can’t look away. I can’t breathe. I can hardly think. Not with his compliment holding me immobile. The way he speaks, with so much conviction, I almost believe him. Almost. My eyes drop as guilt crashes over me. I shouldn’t be out here with Sean. Soaking in the joy from his words. Coy, my boyfriend, is the reason I’m here tonight. Without him I’d be nowhere. Have nothing. “I better get inside.” “Hey, I’m sorry if I made you uncomfortable.” He leans forward and dips down so our eyes meet. His are full of apology and concern. “I’m not hitting on you. You’re with Coy and I respect that. I just wanted to tell you how beautiful you are. All women deserve to be told the truth.” His words sting and I have to blink back the moisture in my eyes. “Sorry, that was supposed to make you feel better, not worse.” He rubs one hand at the nape of his neck and blows out an exaggerated breath. “It’s fine.” “I’m an idiot. I apologize. Can we go back to where you were smiling like you might want to be friends?”

Title: Art of Forgiveness
Series: A Stern Family Saga, Book 2
Author: Monique Orgeron
Genre: Contemporary Romance w/ Suspense
Release Date: January 19, 2018
Liam Stern lived a charmed and carefree life. Always surrounded by friends, he was the boy who could have any girl he wanted, and did.
Until Avery.
She was pure and innocent. She was the one he never saw coming.
She was the only thing that mattered, but the time came for him to fulfill his destiny. To protect Avery from a life she was not made for, he would have to give up the one thing he loved most in this world: her.
Now the decisions made years ago come back to cost them both, dearly.
Avery Edwards was a good girl, never stepping out of line, always the obedient daughter.
Until Liam showed her everything she was missing in her life: love.
Liam was her future, or at least she thought.
Until he broke her.
That was the beginning of her nightmare.
After years apart, Liam and his family hold her future in their hands. Rebuilding a girl who no longer cares to live.
After years of hating Liam, can Avery truly give him her forgiveness?
Written by Monique Orgeron’s eldest, most beautiful, and intelligent daughter. (My sister is going to hate this part.)
My mom happens to be the most caring, loving, and stubborn person I know, well anyone knows. She gives 100% percent of herself to everyone and has given up so much of herself for my sister and I. For twenty-one years she has poured her heart and soul into making sure we know that we are loved and that we can do anything we put our minds too, but it was about time she figured that out about herself.
Up until this year I hadn’t seen my mom do anything for only her, but this book has allowed her to travel the world through the pages of a book, make new friends, and feel the joy of doing something exciting.
There is a new light behind her eyes and it is just making me feel more joy than she can ever imagine. While she might be annoying most of the time, I am so thrilled that she is finally allowing herself to grow as a person and not spend all of her energy on her family.
It has been a long journey of self-discovery for my mom; she has gone from domestic supermom to domestic goddess throughout the process of writing.
We are so very excited and proud of you! I love you as big as the world.

Synopsis:
I closed the door on magic long ago…the day it made me an orphan. Ten years ago, the Coven of Fire sacrificed their lives—my mother among them—to hold off an overwhelming demonic force. Now it’s back. As a poorly-paid bartender, how can any of this be my problem? But Callie, another orphan of that battle, swears I’m the key to reviving the coven. And there’s an incredibly sexy guardian stranded on my couch who’s promising to help me stop the demons and keep the veil between the realms standing. One problem: I’ve never been able to use magic. Our local bad boy warlock assures me I have the talent, but even if I did, we don’t have enough witches to complete a coven. The only way to survive is to pull together this pack of magicborn misfits, who have more secrets than spells, into a makeshift coven. Can we—three untrained witches, a sarcastic warlock, and an overly intense guardian—take back the city…before the demongate falls and the forces that killed my mother destroy us too?

Review:
This was a fun and intriguing read, different from what I usually go for but I wanted to try something different :) I'll admit I did have to flip back and forth to the glossary quite a bit so I could follow along in certain parts, but was happy the author included it as it was quite helpful! This Paranormal had a bit of everything: witches and warlocks as well as ghosts and demons. It was an interesting mix and I couldn't wait to finish to get to the bottom of the mystery! Alix and Matt made a good team and I enjoyed their side of the story. There's a twist in the story that had me surprised but worked well with the storyline. I give this 4 stars!

Review:
There are a lot of lessons in this book on overcoming loss and grief. The author has Bri, the female protagonist, going through all the stages of grief, seeking counseling in different forms, and finding ways to look forward to life. I really like that part of the story—seeing all the different things she did to find the little things that matter in life. I really felt for Bri. I couldn’t believe where her story went from the first book. That kind of devastation is hard to bounce back from. Cole, I felt for him, too. He had to watch the woman he loved mourn another man, a friend. It seemed like an impossible situation for him, and it did seem like a long journey. I liked the buildup of the couple. There wasn’t anything instant, nor was it intense. It was a friends to lovers story, with a bit of a shade hovering between them. I’m glad everything worked out for everyone in the end, though the author put many people though hell throughout the book. The lessons from each nightmare were important.

Excerpt:
Boom. Clash. Argh! My fingers weave in my hair and tug hard. A loud yell escapes my lips, and my eyes land on the reason for the ruckus. An excruciating cry bubbles in my chest, slowly building as if adding to my pain. With another scream, the tornado within me explodes. It escapes angrily, as my body swooshes around my house, knocking things down as I come in contact with them. Glass shatters. Metal clacks against the tile. Cushions swoosh as they’re thrown through the air. Uncontrollable and destructible fury burns within me until I melt into a pile of ashes on the cool tile. The water from my eyes extinguishes the burning heat as I sink further onto the floor. I curl into myself, fists hitting the hard surface. I don’t know how long I stay like this for, but eventually I start to drift away, my mind numb and my heart slowing down. Before I completely fall asleep, I sit up. My head is pounding and my body is stiff from tension. I close my eyes for a few beats, and reassess the destruction around me when I reopen them. I was okay a few days ago when Olivia came by. As okay as I could be in my situation. Today, I lost it. Something inside me triggered and I lost control. I tiptoe around the broken glass with my bare feet and grab the broken frame I launched across the living room. I hug it to me, careless of shards of glass that could cut me. “I’m so sorry,” I whisper into the frame. “I’m such an asshole. Sorry.” I fight the urge to cry again. I pull the frame from my chest and stare at the picture of Josh and I. The glass scratched a bit of the gloss, but it’s still a beautiful picture of us. I shake off the excess glass, not even wincing when I get a small cut on my finger. The pain is welcomed. After cleaning the mess, I sit cross-legged on the couch with a fresh glass of wine. Nothing will get rid of this headache, so I might as well fuel it with alcohol. Besides, I could use the disconnection alcohol offers. Another night of forgetting for a little while about the loss I’m grieving. Another night I sleep through most of it. Copyright 2018, Fabiola Francisco

Excerpt:
“So, Forrester.” Kyle said his name in a way that never ceased to send shockwaves down his back and straight to his cock. “How does one go about trading in books around here?” Forrester pressed his groin closer to the back of the checkout counter, not wanting his thin khakis to reveal what Kyle’s voice did to him. He knew it wasn’t an accent anymore, but the soft way Kyle spoke lured him in like a siren’s song. Since no one else waited to check out, Forrester took a moment to soak in those gorgeous hazel eyes, then smiled impishly. “First you have to bring them in.” “That would be helpful.” Kyle’s generous mouth cracked a grin. He tried his damnedest not to picture those downright kissable lips wrapped around his cock while he ran his fingers through Kyle’s sun-streaked hair. He’d always had a thing for blonds. He plucked up one of the flyers from the counter. Somehow he managed to sound professional, educated even, when he handed it over. “Our policy is we only take gently used books.” “Mine are in great shape.” “I bet they are,” Forrester drawled. “They’re like new,” he insisted. “No folded corners, never dropped one in a tub either.” “Good to hear. I hate it when people ruin a good book.” Dammit, now I’m picturing Kyle in a bathtub! “Me too.” Kyle folded the flyer and tucked it into his pocket. “For every book you trade in, we give 15 percent off the purchase of a new book or 25 percent off a used one. And for every three books, you get a free used book or half off a new one.” Kyle flashed those pearly whites, making his eyes crinkle and his dimples deepen so much Forrester longed to flick his tongue inside them. “Guess I got some free books coming.” “I guess you do,” he quipped. “Do you want to buy these today or wait till you do the trade?” Kyle withdrew his card. “Nah, I’ll buy them now. I’ve been dying to see what happens since you got me hooked on this series. And Scott already signed this one.” Forrester offered him a sideways smile. “I’ll just give you 15 percent off on good faith.” “Gosh, you don’t have to do that.” Good Lord, the guy said gosh. Could he be more adorable? When Forrester noticed Holly watching them, he resisted the urge to stick his tongue out at her. Instead, he shrugged off Kyle’s modesty and entered the discount into his computer. “No problem. Just make sure you bring me some good stuff, capisci?” “Will do. Thanks a lot.” Forrester swiped his card, then offered Kyle another inviting smile. The one Ma called his suck-up smile. “Can I get you anything else? Answer any more of your questions?” Kyle kept smiling. “No. You’ve been pretty thorough, as usual.” “You sure?” he prompted, unable to stop flirting so shamelessly. “You don’t need to know anything else? What’s on the bestseller list? Today’s weather? The meaning of life?” “Forty-two.” Official report: Forrester was in love with Kyle Benson. Or at least in serious lust. His grin widened so big he swore his face might crack. “A Hitchhiker fan. I should’ve known.” He tore off the receipt and slid it forward for Kyle to sign. “Hells yeah.” Kyle laughed. Forrester bagged the books. “Receipt with you or in the bag?” “Bag’s fine.” He accepted his purchases, then cleared his throat and fiddled with the bag. “All right, um, thank you, Forrester. Always a pleasure.” He extended a hand and Forrester took it, electric jolts running through his blood at the feel of those lightly calloused fingers. “No problem,” he managed, not letting go. Kyle kept his gaze locked on Forrester, blinking and glancing from his eyes to his mouth. Warming, Forrester ran his thumb across the back of his hand. He couldn’t believe his forwardness, but Kyle had some kind of tractor beam sucking him in. Powerless against its pull, he stroked the soft skin once more with a nervous, light touch, pulses of heat and desire stirring inside him. Forrester let go and cleared his throat. “Um, Kyle?” “Yeah?” The phone rang, shattering the moment. Sighing, he snagged it on the third ring. “Thank you for calling A Novel Idea. This is Forrester, how may I help you?” “Hey, it’s me.” Only real friends or family could answer a phone with an “it’s me.” Lucas Beale was the former. Though totally weird, and he hated sports of all kinds, Lucas was Forrester’s “boy best friend”—Holly having the honor of being his “girl best friend.” He didn’t know what he would do without either of them. “Hey, Lucas, what’s up?” He tried not to sound annoyed at the telephone cockblock. Kyle waved goodbye. “I guess I’ll see ya later, Forrester.” “Can’t wait.” “Can’t wait for what?” Lucas asked in confusion. He covered the receiver, hoping he didn’t sound lame to Kyle. “I mean… uh, I can’t wait to read that book together?” His entire body froze in one breath of anticipation. Kyle cocked his head to the side, then smiled. “Absolutely.” Still grinning, Kyle turned and walked away. Ignoring Lucas as he started talking again, Forrester watched Kyle’s spectacular ass as he headed to the door. A woman was coming in and, like a perfect gentleman, Kyle held the door for her. Outside, Kyle slid on and strapped his helmet. Then he threw his leg over and straddled the chrome-and-black Sportster parked out front. I got something he can straddle and ride…. Forrester’s skin flushed all the way to his toes. Was Kyle a top or a bottom? Being versatile, he really didn’t care. As long as there was manly skin touching his, lots of kissing, and he got to come, Forrester was a happy camper. But the prospect of finding out what Kyle liked made his entire body warm. He watched Kyle put his bike into gear and walk it back out of the space. As it did every time Kyle left, a deep ache settled in his stomach. God, I just need to marry him.

Her sister, Layla, is in a new relationship, her mom's match-making business is doing great, and her school's new fundraiser is "Love-Grams." Juliet's miserable, a little jealous, and lonely. Quarterback Jared Black is the most popular guy in school. A star athlete, Jared tops the most-eligible bachelor list year after year. But to Juliet Valentine, he's all but invisible. She isn't impressed. Jared's never had to work hard to get the attention of a girl before. Valentine's Day is fast approaching, and he's determined to ask Juliet out. After all, if Tyler can win over Layla, Jared ought to have a shot with Layla's sister. Unlike Tyler and Layla, charm, flattery and good looks won't work on Juliet. So with the V-Day dance coming up, Jared uses the school’s Love-Grams to let Juliet know how he feels. Should be simple enough, right? Wrong. Each attempt ends up either in the trash or thrown in someone's face. Juliet won't play his game. Now, without a date to the dance Jared realizes it’s going to take a Hail Mary to win the girl of his dreams.
Review:
Right Kiss Wrong Guy is my first Natalie Decker novel, and I really enjoyed it. I felt like I was back in high school reading it. Jared was my favorite character. I related to him the most because I lived a similar existent growing up with my dad. I felt bad for him, but at one point I wanted him to give up or man up. He did have a stupid moment where he needed a whack to the back of the head, but he was genuinely a nice guy. His crush and feelings for Juliet were very sweet. Juliet… I liked her overall, but she was a little ragey and a little selfish. She had tunnel vision during the month leading up to the dance and couldn’t see outside her situation. It ended up hurting some of her friends and her sister. Her ex was an idiot, but just as she didn’t want people to see her as the nerdy one, she needed to not see all jocks as stupid jerks like him. I didn’t read the first book in the series, but RKWG can be read as a standalone. I didn’t feel like I was missing any references. I liked how Decker transported us into the classrooms and homes of these characters. I just wish I would have gotten a better idea of what they looked like… Overall, it was fun, quick read. 4 Stars!
