Wicked Charm by Amber Hart Publication Date: January 30, 2018 Publisher: Entangled Teen About The Book: Nothing good comes from living in the Devil's swamp. Willow Bell thinks moving to the Okefenokee area isn't half bad, but nothing prepares her for what awaits in the shadows of the bog. Girls are showing up dead in the swamp. And she could be next. Everyone warns Willow to stay away from Beau Cadwell—the bad boy at the top of their suspect list as the serial killer tormenting the small town. But beneath his wicked, depthless eyes, there's something else that draws Willow to him. When yet another girl he knew dies, though, Willow questions whether she can trust her instincts…or if they're leading to her own death. I can just hear and smell the deep south in it. I’m already talking in a thick southern accent (that usually only comes out when my emotions are high), which annoys the hell out of my husband. Lol! The book is just so alive and rich. Amendment: I am done with this book, and I still loved it as much as when I started it. Willow, Beau, and his sister Charlotte were very rich characters. While Willow was all about experiencing what life had to offer—the good and the bad—Beau and Charlotte shielded themselves against anything that could lead to the bad. It was something they struggled with throughout the book, giving more depth to their characters. Willow’s grandmother was another character I loved. I wish there had been just one more scene with her. I would really like to see a book about Charlotte. She wasn’t in this book as much as other characters, but what you saw was just as wicked and guarded as Beau. Even more so, actually. There was a serial killer in this book that makes this book fall under the mystery category, but mostly the book was about overcoming loss, opening yourself up to being hurt so you could live with the good, and trust. 4.5 Stars About The Author: Amber Hart resides on the Florida coastline with family and a plethora of animals she affectionately refers to as her urban farm. When unable to find a book, she can be found writing, daydreaming, or with her toes in the sand. She's the author of several novels for teens and adults, including Wicked Charm, the Before & After series, and the Untamed series. Rep'd by Stacey Donaghy of Donaghy Literary Group. |
