The Geek and the Goddess
Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes & Noble / iBooks / Kobo -- EXCERPT: A guy appears at the door. He looks back at it, like he’s double-checking the room number, then says something to a girl up front. She nods and he closes the door. Everyone looks up and stares at him. He’s tall and thin, wearing jeans and a button-up white shirt with a blue blazer over it. And he has on a tie that’s blue and green plaid. Who dresses like that for class? A blazer and a tie? Maybe he transferred here from a prep school. “Greetings, earthlings,” he says in a deep voice. He smiles and a few people chuckle. “Wesley,” Mr. Henderson says. “Welcome.” “Thank you,” he says in a cheery tone, not seeming to care that people are staring at him. “We have a seat for you back here,” Henderson says. He sees me and smiles. “Guess it’s my lucky day.” Lucky day? What is he talking about? Everyone watches as he makes his way to the back. As he approaches my table, I notice he’s carrying a briefcase. Like one of those hard covered briefcases men used to carry to work. He sets it down and opens the metal hinges. The briefcase pops open and inside is his laptop, a notebook, and some pens. He takes out the laptop, then closes the briefcase. “Everyone, this is Wesley Deckle,” Mr. Henderson says. “He moved here last summer from Sacramento, California. Please welcome him to Wisconsin by introducing yourselves after class.” He walks over to his desk. “I want phones put away and books out. We’ll begin shortly.” Wesley holds out his hand to me and smiles. “Hi. I’m Wesley. And you are?” “Luna,” I say as I get a better look at his face. He’s kind of cute. His eyes are a swirly mix of blue that reminds me of those pictures of Earth taken from space. He has dark brown hair that’s a little long with curly waves that make it look messy but in a good way. And he has good skin. Not a single zit, which is rare for people our age. “Luna,” he repeats, and I wait for him to follow that with whatever rude comment he’s going to make about my unusual name. But instead he says, “That’s the coolest name ever.” I stare at him, skeptical of his words. It’s quite possible he’s being sarcastic. He looks like someone who uses sarcasm. “Are you being serious?” I ask. “Luna. Roman goddess of the moon,” he says, smiling. “You were named after a goddess. That’s cool, don’t you think?” “Not really.” I look away from him. “I’ve never liked my name.” “Why don’t you like it?” “Let’s start by reviewing the syllabus,” Mr. Henderson says. I open my laptop, not answering Wesley’s question. Because answering it means telling him the history of my name and how it’s been used to tease me, ridicule me, make me an outcast. There’s no need to explain all that. He’ll find that out soon enough.
GIVEAWAY! Fragments of Ash
Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes & Noble / iBooks / Kobo -- Special pre-order price of $2.99 for a limited time only! -- EXCERPT: My mind skitters to her face—her beautiful fucking face—and the way she stared at me with those wide eyes and her lips lightly parted. Those lips. She has Angelina Jolie lips. Scarlett Johanssen lips. Liv-fucking-Tyler from the “Crazy” video lips. Except this chick doesn’t look like Liv. She’s got blonde hair and a perfect pout like Alicia Silverstone. I remember the beginning of that video when our girl, Alicia, climbs out a bathroom window in her Catholic school uniform, her skirt riding up to show her black lace panties…and ahhh, yes, I feel my cock twitch just picturing it. Fuck my life. Shit. Shit. Shit. She looked to be about Noelle’s age—somewhere between eighteen and twenty, and ridiculously young to suddenly arrive alone in the middle of nowhere, put up in an old farmhouse by a couple of aging queens. How in the fuck is this her best option? Who is she? And what exactly is her deal? I grimace because the headlines of her story—the easy parts—start materializing as I think about what I know about her. I didn’t do all that training for nothing. Plus, I have good instincts. I could practically smell it on her—the fear, the desperation, the way she wouldn’t meet me eyes except to insist that she was an adult. God, what a joke. If she’s an adult, I’m a French poodle. Then something occurs to me: it was Jock’s boyfriend, Gus, who gave away the most important part of her story away. She has nowhere else to go. And then something else occurs to me, and I wonder, Is she in hiding? This girl—what’s her name? Amber? Audrey?—is in trouble. Big trouble. The kind of trouble that gets other people in hot water when they were just trying to live their lives and mind their own business. And she’s been dumped on my doorstep. Literally.

Glimpses of Wilderness
The Glimpses Series Book 1 by Lee Ann Ward Genre: YA Romance
No nightmares about my dad’s car crashing or my sister’s tiny face vanishing in a window of red. No, not anymore. Now when I sleep I fall into an expanse of frozen wilderness, the other life I’ve lived…
The one I’ve lived with him. Anna experiences vivid dreams from a past-life she lived in the 1800s with her husband Robert and their children in the wilderness of the Michigan Territory. Much like her own mother grieving the man and child she lost, Anna can’t simply let go of the memories that haunt her. But when she runs into Robert in this lifetime, a whirlwind of their past lives—and deaths—rocks her modern world to the core. What will she be willing to risk to spend every lifetime with Robert? In the twists and turns of “repeating” their lives over and over through time, Anna must sacrifice everything for a glimpse of immortal love.

Summary: When Elle Christiansen's rebellion leads to her father's expulsion from a parsonage in small-town Ohio, the forlorn pair is forced to move to Oklahoma to live with an aunt neither of them has ever met. Here she encounters her aunt’s neighbor—Maverick Mason, the quietly confident son of a wealthy oil tycoon who infuriates her as much as he inexplicably draws her in… Maverick slowly gains Elle’s trust and coaxes her out from the seemingly impenetrable walls of self-protection she erected around her heart when her mother was murdered. He convinces Elle to confide the secrets of her tortured past: that she saw her mother's murder before it took place, and she was the one who found her, bleeding to death at the end of a lonely dirt road. Together the unlikely pair begins to unlock the secrets of not only Elle’s sordid past, but her mother's and grandmother’s as well, to uncover decades of greed, corporate corruption, lies, and murder. Quickly, the sobering realization hits: if they do not solve her mother’s murder, Elle will undoubtedly suffer the same fate. As she continues her journey toward truth alongside the boy she is magnetically drawn to in a way both frightening and uncontrollable, Elle finds the road she is most afraid of going down—that one lane dirt road where her mother was murdered—just might be the only place she can truly find redemption. Magnetic tells of the enduring pain of living with unsolved violent crime. Inspired by debut author Carissa Miller’s true-life events, it’s a haunting account of a young girl’s struggle in the aftermath of shattering loss. With an unraveling love story, puzzling mystery, unexpected twists and turns, and a gripping pace that will keep you turning pages, our heroine takes you on her journey as she learns one of life’s great lessons: facing your fears instead of running from them, is the only way to truly find freedom. Buy on Amazon Add to Goodreads A Note from the Author Carissa Miller was inspired to write her debut novel--Magnetic--because of her firsthand experience living with the trauma of an unsolved violent crime, her mother’s attempted rape and murder that remains unsolved to this day. Carissa never intended to publish Magnetic until her children found it on her computer, started reading it, and fell in love with the story and the characters, Maverick and Elle. With her children challenging her and cheering her on, telling her that she couldn’t give up because the world needed to read Elle and Maverick’s story, Carissa finally edited and published Magnetic two years after they found it on her laptop. About the Author Carissa Miller writes a lifestyle and design blog called CC and Mike, where she and her husband blog about their experiences designing, building, and flipping houses in the Midwest. She was inspired to write her debut novel–Magnetic—because of her firsthand experience living with the trauma of an unsolved violent crime, her mother’s attempted murder. Carissa laughs loudly, loves with her whole heart, tells it how it is to a fault, and enjoys living life to the fullest, every moment of every day. Title: Forever
Series: Destroyed by Love, Book One
Author: Abrianna Denae
Genre: Mature YA/NA Romance
Published: February 2, 2017
She's hiding from the girl she once was.
He's just trying to get through another day.
Marley Fallon doesn't believe in attachments, not after her world was destroyed by those she trusted the most. She's put on a new face and is ready to bury the past. Nothing good can come from remembering the pain.
What she doesn't count on is Wyatt Hensley. The silent stranger manages to get under her skin in ways she can't explain.
Wyatt doesn't want anything to do with the mysterious new girl. He has bigger issues to worry about.
However, you can't fight what's right in front of you.
Wyatt and Marley find themselves sharing their deepest, darkest secrets. It's not long until they're immersed in the other's life and heart.
But as soon as they find each other, they also find that forever isn't as long as they think.
When Wyatt said he wanted to be friends I didn’t know that meant he would actually acknowledge my presence. In class, he made it a point to talk to me and said he’d meet me for lunch.
Now I’m standing at the end of the line in the cafeteria, not sure what to do. Kala walks in front of me, heading toward a table full of people I hate. Do I walk toward the unknown? Do I sit with a boy who never even looks up during lunch? Or do I sit with people who are familiar to me? Their faces and names are different, but their attitudes are the same ones that I grew up around. They’re comfortable to me, and that’s why I hate them. If I’m going to survive, then I have to make wise choices, but I suppose that one unwise choice won’t kill me. So when Kala drops down in her usual seat I don’t follow. Instead I keep walking toward the boy who could destroy me with one glance. “Took you long enough,” he says. Wyatt doesn’t look up from his hands. I place my tray on the table and sit across from him. He doesn’t have any food, he never does. “I’m not going to hurt you.” “How do you know?” He lifts his gaze to mine, it’s intense, and it unnerves me. The feelings that Wyatt stirs inside of me leave me confused and intrigued. I want to explore these feelings, but you can’t build a relationship on lies. Been there done that. “Because I don’t plan to. I promise I won’t hurt you, Marley. I don’t break my promises.” “I don’t believe in promises, they’re just empty words. I don’t know you. You could be saying this today, and something else tomorrow.” “How many people do you think know about my sisters?” He leans forward and lowers his voice. I become aware of the stares and the whispers. “You know who they are. Granted it was only a matter of time, but still. I didn’t know how to handle it. But you did.” “You confuse me.” “I could say the same about you.” “Are we ever going to have an actual conversation?” He raises an eyebrow, his clear gaze burning into me. I want to turn away, but can’t. “You tell me.”
