Title: NEVERLAND
Author: Melissa Jane Genre: Romantic Thriller Release: October 2, 2018 Cover Design: Sarah Paige, Opium House Creatives
Blurb:
On a fateful, stormy night, a ghost from the past revealed himself under the glow of a street lamp. A ghost whose smile was as cold and dangerous as his heart. He remembered her well. She was the one everyone talked about. The poor girl down the street born into a family of monsters. The one he’d obsessed over, taunted and harassed. The very same girl who’d one day suddenly disappeared. Accepting his hand, he lifted her off the dirty, vile street and whispered a promise, “No good deed comes without payment,” and from that day on, she was destined to pay the ultimate price. Seeing her for the first time since she’d vanished all those years ago, had only made him realize his obsession never truly ended. And now, with a promise to keep, he was going to make her disappear again… this time forever.

Review:
This was the worst best book I have ever read. And when I say worst, I mean there was so much bad that happened in this book. It was raw, ugly. The good parts were short and taken away far too quickly. There was no happily ever after. There was revenge, though. And though the revenge made me happy, I was still sad by the end at how everything ended. That didn’t take away from how good the book was, though. I like books that surprise me, that aren’t like other books. If there was an HEA, I probably wouldn’t have been as satisfied. It would have been like every other hero-saves-the-day book. Lucy was such a strong character, despite how bad her life was. Almost everyone in her life let her down. Not only did they let her down, they beat her, humiliated her, threatened her. Romeo was the only good in her life, yet she was taken away from him years ago. When she was taken away, her situation got worse and worse and even more worse. I felt for this poor girl who life would not cut her a break. Dominic was a sick, sick mother effer. A mobster, he started out as a boy who already loved to control and humiliate Lucy, threatening her for the first time when she was only fourteen, wanting her even then. I thought he would redeem himself, that he would become the hero in the story. Nope. The sick man remained the monster, becoming worse as the story progressed. There were other characters throughout the book; some good but mostly bad. Neverland is a dark, dark book. No one gets away unscathed. Be warned.
